MANILA, Philippines - Pepi Santos of H3 Autoworx roared to his second straight victory as he topped the Petron Northern Series-2011 National Drag Racing Championship at the Clark International Speedway in Angeles City recently.
Santos turned back teammate Teofilo Cayco and defending champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing, clocking 9.588 seconds to annex his fifth straight win in the Quick 8 division since last year.
Cayco timed 13.006 for second in the event sponsored by Petron, backed by Yokohama Philippines, Racing Beat@Wave 89.1 FM, Aeromed, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
Santos beat Michael John Jucaban of JCT-Blanche Racing in the quarterfinals then won by default over Vannitec’s Why Why Dagondon to advance to the finals.
Tiu settled for third place in the Quick 8 division and placed second to Edwin Cayco of H3 Motorsports in the Super Pro class.
Norman de la Peña of QSP, meanwhile, worked his way up to grab his first season win in the Pro class following a runner-up finish in the Southern Series kickoff leg recently.
De la Peña clocked 11.668 seconds to beat Edison Cayco of H3 Motorsports, who had 11.673.
