Drag racing resumes Feb. 12
MANILA, Philippines - Action in the Petron Northern Series-2011 National Drag Racing Championship resumes this Saturday as it stages its second leg at the Clark International Speedway in Angeles City.
Actor Allen Dizon turned back ace lady driver When When Dagondon of Vannitec and defending champion Anthony Go of JCT-Blanche Racing to clinch the Pro class crown in the kick off leg recently.
Dizon’s victory thus makes him the man to beat in the event sponsored by Petron, supported by Yokohama Philippines, Chequered Flag, Racing Beat@Wave 89.1 FM, Aeromed, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philipines.
Inspired by Dizon’s victory, the other competitors are now hoping to make it to the top with the right car set-up and strategy.
“Dizon’s triumph changed the atmosphere of the competition. Now, every competitor wants a crack at the crown just like Dizon and we expect this year’s title race to be more intense than before,” said drag racing director Fil Gulfin.
Pepi Santos of H3 Motorsports also guns for his second victory this season and his fifth straight win since last year when he goes up against a highly-competitive field in the Quick 8 division.
Santos, who set the all-time fastest Honda car record of 9.247 seconds, faces tough challenge against Edward Pujol of Vannitec, William Hand of Ahra-Garage Power and a host of topnotch drivers, including expats John Ryzia and Steve Caldwell; San Mariano, Isabela racing brothers Ed Christian and Ed Christopher Go; Mato Tan of Group N; Vanni Garcia and Norman de la Pena of Vannitec.
