St. Francis holds off PCCR, nears UCLAA crown
MANILA, Philippines - St. Francis of Assisi College, with Jason Melano firing 20 points and Raymund Ilagan adding 17, turned back Philippine College of Criminology, 62-56, to take Game One of the UCLAA best-of-three championship series at the San Andres gym over the weekend.
PCCR’s junior team, on the other hand, gained headway in its own title showdown with University of the East as it hacked out a 73-71 victory.
Angelo Alanao scored 25 points and Teresito Valera contributed 19 for the PCCR junior squad.
Las Piñas College, meanwhile, salvaged third place after beating De Ocampo Memorial College, 88-75, behind the 32 points of Orly Calimlim and Juvel Gican’s 22 points.
The PCCR juniors and the senior team of St. Francis seniors go for the clincher today, also at the San Andres Gym.
