Dragfest's southern series unfolds tomorrow

-

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s finest drivers see action as the 2011 National Drag Racing Championships stages the kickoff of the Southern Series tomorrow at the Batangas Racing Circuit Drag Strip in Rosario, Batangas.

A bigger field is expected to compete for the titles at stake as drag racers from the south clash with their northern rivals in this event supported by Yokohama Philippines, Chequered Flag, Racing Beat@Wave 89.1 FM, Aeromed, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philipines.

Participants will be battling for the crowns in the premiere Pro class, Quick 8, Expert, Super Pro, Sportsman and Hotstreet divisions as they also try to shatter Jonathan Tiu’s existing track record of 9.903 seconds at the BRC Drag Strip.

Drag racing director Fil Gulfin urged participants to come early for the qualifying runs before the drivers briefing set at 9 a.m.

The teams expected to vie for the titles at stake are JCT-Blanche Racing, Vannitec, H3 Autoworks, Just Racing, Montavita, Lowtoys, Batangas Racing Team, Pit 21, Cabspeed, Mohspeed, Team Ready, Ahra-Garage Power, Alps Racing, SE Racing, Forcespeed, Prodigy, Bladespeed, Step, Mymitsuph, Signal, HRE, Gulfspeed and other privateers.

Actor-sportsman Allen Dizon hopes to bring his winning ways in Batangas as he guns for a second straight win in the Pro Class after ruling the kickoff leg at Clark up against tougher rivals, including top favorites Anthony Go of JCT-Blanche Racing and No. 1 lady driver When When Dagondon of Vannitec.
