Architects compete in Maharlika Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Architects and partners in the building industry will compete in the sixth Maharlika Cup tournament at the Club Intramuros on Feb 10, the organizing Manila Maharlika Chapter announced yesterday.

The event, with the theme: “Beyond the Profession: Leisure for Charity,” will serve as fund-raiser for socio-civic projects of Manila Maharlika Chapter, the first and only chapter to be inducted to the Hall of Fame of the United Architects of the Philippines after five consecutive Best UAP Chapter awards.

According to organizers, funds from the golf meet sponsored by Boysen Paints will go to the chapter’s continuing tree-planting programs and the upgrading of selected Manila elementary public school toilet facilities for improved sanitation.

This year’s golf tournament committee is chaired by past president Romi de Jesus. Members are architects Boy Roldan, Edgar Calma, Buddy Segui, Leo Parinas, Boyet Libiran, current president Rowena Ramos, Roy Gelveson, Art Matubang, Roji Sevilla, Ronald Angeles, Eric Coronel, Donna del Mundo, Dannae Edusada and Mabel Ticsay.

Major sponsors are DDT Konstract, Powerade, Great Year, MFT, AECI and Designworks. Minor sponsors are Crown Pipes, Philflex Wires & Cables, Emerald Vinyl, DN Steel, Orion Maxis, Julant Pest Control, JME Supreme, BPS Construction, Hunter Douglas and Cacho Construction. Donors are Felport, Firefly, Kawara, Republic Powdercoat and Avesco.
