MANILA, Philippines – School in a crucial game in the boys division while De La Salle-Lipa tries to formalize its stint in the girls semifinals in the Toby’s Juniors Volleyball League at Lyceum gym today.
The Palanan spikers need a victory over the Claret side to tie idle Ateneo at 2-1 in Pool B and stay in hunt for a berth in the crossover semis of the event sponsored by Toby’s Sports.
But Claret is also expected to go all-out for a win to keep its slim hopes alive. With a 0-2 card, it must sweep its last two games and hope Ateneo and Palanan drop their final matches.
Concepcion Elem. School clinched the first semis seat with a four-game sweep of Pool B with the second berth a toss-up between Ateneo and Palanan. Xavier is out of the race with a 0-3 slate.
The event is backed by Shakey’s, LBC, Mikasa and Asics.
La Salle-Lipa, meanwhile, is fancied to get past Miriam College in Pool A. as it goes for a sweep and the first semis slot. Miriam, toting a 1-2 card, is also in a must-win game.
F. Benitez III Elem. School has the inside track for the other semis seat with a 2-1 mark while De La Salle-Zobel has a 1-1 slate.
St. Mary’s Academy and Academy of God’s Children clash at 10:30 a.m. in boys’ Pool A action, both eyeing their first win in three starts.
Elizabeth Seton (0-2) and St. Mary’s (0-3) square off in a non-bearing girls Pool B match at 9:30 a.m. with Colegio San Agustin (4-0) and MGC New Life Christian Academy (3-1) clinching the two semis berths.
