CES, CSA enter Toby's volley semis

-

MANILA, Philippines - Concepcion Elementary School and Colegio San Agustin swept their respective elimination round matches to clinch berths in the crossover semifinal series in the Toby’s Juniors Volleyball League at CSA and Lyceum gyms last week.

The CES spikers battled back from seven points down in the first set to repulse Xavier and complete a 25-21, 25-8 romp to top the five-team Boys B division with a 4-0 slate.

The CSA tossers, on the other hand, toppled their rivals from Elizabeth Seton School to likewise sweep the Girls B category of the tournament sponsored by Toby’s Sports and backed by Shakey’s, LBC, Mikasa and Asics.

De La Salle-Lipa, meanwhile, picked up two wins in the Boys A and Girls A divisions, respectively, as they zeroed in on the semis slots. The boys team beat St. Mary’s Academy, 25-13, 25-14, to show the way with three straight victories.

The La Salle-Lipa girls fought back from a set down to turn back their counterparts from DLS-Zobel, 22-25, 25-14, 25-18, for their second straight win.

F. Benitez III Elem. School also totes a 2-0 card in Girls A while DLS-Zobel has an even 1-1 slate, Miriam College 1-2 and Jesus Christ Academy 0-3.

DLS-Canlubang (1-1) and MGC New Christian Academy (2-1) will dispute the other semis berth in Girls B Sunday after the latter boosted its bid with a 25-12, 25-17 victory over St. Mary’s Academy.

F. Benitez and DLS-Lipa also vie for top slot in Girls A while Xavier and Ateneo try to stay in the hunt in Boys B and DLS-Lipa and E. Seton School duel for the first semis berth in Boys A.
