UP booters edge Eagles

MANILA, Philippines - University of the Philippines posted its second win by beating Ateneo De Manila University, 1-0, yesterday in the UAAP men’s football event at the Erenchun field in Ateneo campus.

Nathan Octavio fired UP’s lone goal at 49th minute to give the Fighting Maroons their back-to-back wins after beating defending champion Far Eastern University in Sunday’s opener for a total of six points.

Ateneo took its second straight setback.

In the other men’s games, UST forced a 1-1 draw with De La Salle University after Ronel Lagrimas hit a goal in the 67th minute and the Tigers sustained their defense the rest of the way.
