MANILA, Philippines - Oh Kyung Ja and Kim Hwa Rang turned in a pair of solid rounds to lead the South Koreans’ domination of the Camp John Hay Chairman’s Cup at the John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City last Sunday.
Oh fired 34 points under the Stableford scoring system to humble her male rivals and capture the overall championship in the two-day event which drew a huge field of 200-plus participants.
Kim, on the other hand, scored 37 points on the up and down layout to bag the low gross honors in the tournament held in honor of CJH chairman Bob Sobrepeña and presented by Warbird Security and Investigation Agency and Golforce, Inc.
Monet Garcia shot 43 to lead the division winners (Class A) in the 11th staging of the annual tournament sponsored by American Eye Center, The Manor at Camp John Hay and Le Chef.
Two other Koreans lorded it over the field with Choi Sang Chul winning the Class B crown with 44 points and Jeng Won Young clinching the Class C diadem with 48 points.
Victor Estrella assembled 45 points to cop the Class D plum while Joy Sevilla took the ladies division title with 48 points.
Tim Allen, the general manager at Manila Southwoods, scored 54 Molave points to top the guest division backed by hole-in-one sponsor Turf Company, which put up a Texas Eagle electric golf car at No. 4.
