MANILA, Philippines - A bunch of teenagers displayed some real mean stuff in winning their matches in the monthly PCSO Metro Manila amateur boxing championships recently at the Cantada Sports Center in Taguig.
Wowing the crowd with their raw but thrilling styles were teen campaigners Ronel Espiritu of Caloocan, Philip Cuerdo and Jonas Bacho of Mandaluyong in the featured matches of this event sponsored by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and Mapecon.
Espiritu pounded Army Arias of Taguig, 7-1; Cuerdo stopped Nilo Perez of Mandaluyong in the third round while Bacho thumped teammate Florencio Llamado, 10-6.
Also taking their shares of the limelight were Raymart Placer of Caloocan, who defeated Nickson Paulino of Kabaka, and Jun Inaw of Abao Wildcard, a 14-5 winner over Mark Anthony Laurente.
More than 80 boxers from Caloocan, Mandaluyong, Malabon, Quezon City, Manila and Taguig are entered in this monthly tourney which would determine who will represent Metro Manila in the national inter-cities invitational team championships also to be held at the Cantada Sports Center.
