Capadocia, Lim gun for double

-

MANILA, Philippines - Marian Jade Capadocia got a shot at a double crown as she steamrolled to the finals of the girls’ 18-and-under and 16-and-under divisions of the Andrada Cup age group tennis championships yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Seeded first, Capadocia played true to form in tripping semifinal foe Patricia Orteza, 6-3, 6-0, to book a place in the gold medal match of the premiere 18-U play. Standing in her way is No. 2 Louise Alexandra Lopez, who advanced via a 6-3, 6-4 win over No. 4 Samantha Coyuito.

Capadocia also reached the championship stage of the 16-U where the top-seeded reigning PCA titlist trounced Crizzabelle Paulino, 6-2, 6-0. She awaits the winner between Orteza and No. 2 Akiko de Guzman, who were disputing the other finals berth at presstime.

Similarly vying for two titles is Alberto Lim Jr., who’s through to the title matches in the boys’ 12-U and 14-U classes.

Lim edged No. 1 Christian San Andres, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, to get a crack at the 14-U plum against No. 2 Daniel Villasenor, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 winner over Marcen Gonzales.

The 11-year-old Lim earlier shackled top seed Mimo Tomacruz, 6-1, 6-1, to set up a 12-U title match versus No. 3 Jerome Romualdez, 6-3, 6-1 victor over Mahmod Dimacuta.

Michael Eala (10 unisex), Bianca Anne Cruz (girls’ 12-U) and Maia Balce (girls’ 14-U) led the seeded players’ march into the finals of their respective events.
