MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Pony baseball squad primes itself up for its match with Singapore tomorrow, kicking off the four-nation Asia Pacific Zone Mustang (9-10 years old) Division Championships at the Vinh Yen Stadium in Vinh Phuc Province in Vietnam.
The Filipino batters arrived in Vietnam yesterday and quickly plunged into practice, hoping to reach peak form for the event which stakes a berth in the World Series in Texas.
Handled by coaches Enrico Gesmundo and Christian Cinco, the Phl team opens its campaign against Singapore at 8 a.m. with the host slugging it out with Indonesia at 10:30 a.m.
The Little Razcals will then take on the Vietnamese at 10:30 a.m. on Friday with Singapore and Indonesia clashing in the first game at 8 a.m.
The Philippines closes out its campaign against Indonesia at 8 a.m. on Saturday while Vietnam and Singapore clash in the other game at 10:30 a.m. with the top two finishers disputing the title.
The winner will earn the right to represent the region in the annual Pony Baseball Mustang World Series in Burleson, Texas, according to Phl Pony Baseball president and Pony Southeast Asian representative Boy Tingzon.
The members of the Phl team includes Ezequiel Cyros Agojo, Nathan Joseph Carpio, Carl Christopher Castaneda, Charles Joshua Castillo, Lloyd Christian Cinco, Zian Javiel Eleria, Daniel Isaac Fabella, Jose Mari Javier Limpo, Robert Emmanuel Manaig, Efril Ian Mercado, Lorenzo Montemayor, John Fritz Natanauan, Vincent Joshua Noprado, Marty Alonso Ranada and Javier Jesus Sale.
