MANILA, Philippines - La Salle posted its second straight 5-0 romp to show the way, beating University of the Philippines in the rain-drenched UAAP Season 73 men’s tennis tournament at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center yesterday.
The Green Archers blew hot on a wet Sunday, shutting out the UP Maroons a day after disposing of the University of the East Warriors in similar fashion.
Rookie Ernesto Pantua gave DLSU the headstart against UP with his 6-1, 6-4 drubbing of fellow newcomer Chadi Gerard Lao, then Pemrik Alina and Ed Amor teamed up to beat Dennis Vitaliano and Miggy Belda, 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 (7), and freshman Alberto Lorenzo Villamor clinched the tie with a 6-1, 6-0 rout of Austin Chan.
The pair of David Alexander de Koenigswarter and Juan Fidel Regis and singles’ bet Michael Basco competed the Archers’ sweep with victories over Julian Mendoza-Leandro Fernandez, 6-1, 6-2, and Franklin Encarnacion, 6-0, 6-0, respectively.
The Maroons suffered their second straight loss.
