MANILA, Philippines – Over 1,000 players led by national player Joper Escueta are expected to compete in the 2011 Prima Pasta Invitational Badminton Open on Feb. 5, 6, 12 and 13 at the Powersmash in Pasong Tamo, Makati.
Event chairman Alex Lim confirmed Escueta’s participation in the tournament supported by Prima Pasta, Boysen Paints, RFM, Mabz Builders, Pioneer Life, Prince, ILO Construction, Monolith Construction, Promax Intl., Carlton and Amstar.
“I am looking forward to seeing the nation’s top elite players compete,” said Lim, who also expects the participation of other big names like Malvinne Alcala and Paul Vivas to join the open events.
“I am also hopeful in seeing our talented and upcoming youth players slugging it out on the courts.”
Other events are men’s doubles open, mixed doubles open, junior singles open (boys and girls) and women’s doubles (level A [elite]) and B, C, D, E, F and G (beginner) and age groups.
The leveling dates are slated Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29 (all Saturdays) at the Powersmash badminton court on Pasong Tamo, Makati.
The deadline for submission of entries for men and ladies doubles is on Jan. 29, while Feb. 7 is the deadline for the mixed doubles and junior events.
