CSA seeks win No. 2 in Toby's volley

MANILA, Philippines –  Colegio San Agustin hopes to frolic on its turf as it shoots for second win in both the boys’ and girls’ sides at resumption of action in the Toby’s Juniors Volleyball League at the CSA gym today.

The CSA spikers subdued Academy of God’s Children, 25-13, 25-16, in the Boys-A side last Dec. 12 while the CSA girls’ squad toppled La Salle-Canlubang, 25-6, 25-10, in Girls-B in the opener of the league at the Lyceum gym.

But the hosts are expected to encounter stiff resistance in their bid to nail down their second win with CSA boys battling La Salle-Lipa in the 9 a.m. opener of a quadruple bill marking the third playdate of the league sponsored by Toby’s Sports.

The Lipa tossers also posted a 25-9, 25-8 rout of AGC last Dec. 19 before the league took a holiday break.

The CSA girls, on the other hand, battle the debuting MGC New Life Academy side in the 1 p.m. main game.

Other matches in the tournament, backed by Shakey’s Pizza, LBC, Mikasa and Asics, pit La Salle-Zobel against Miriam College at 10 a.m. in the Girls-A division while La Salle-Canlubang tries to bounce back against St. Mary’s Academy in another Girls-B action at 11 a.m.

The top two teams in each bracket of both divisions after a single round robin elims will advance to the crossover semis with the winners clashing for the crown in best-of-five sets.
