MANILA, Philippines – Marikina City will hold the first Mayor Del de Guzman Golf Classic tournament tomorrow at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo.
The tournament is a fund-raising project organized by the Marikina Golfers Association (MGA) headed by Jun Sebastian. Tournament chairman is Noel Flores and co-chairman is Vice Mayor Fabian Cadiz.
“Our golf tournament aims to support Marikina’s two service oriented centers – the Center for Children in Conflict with the Law and the Marikina’s Rehabilitation Center,” Flores said.
According to De Guzman, the city government welcomes partnerships with the private sector, especially in rendering beneficial programs for the city residents.
“This tournament will surely help a lot of children under our city social welfare and patients in our rehab center,” said De Guzman, who also marks his 48th birthday tomorrow.
“Our commitment to serve people has gained support from our private sector. With this, I would like to commend the efforts of the MGA and the support of our businesses in the city in staging this kind of project. I believe that with the collaboration to the private sector, we are confident to deliver more to the welfare of our people,” he added.
The tournament is open to amateur golfers.
