Andrada Cup youth tennis unfolds today

MANILA, Philippines –  Twenty-three matches kick off the annual Andrada Cup Age-Group Tennis Championships today with second seed Daniel Villaseñor facing Jose Felipe Mapa at 12 noon at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Third seed Eric Jed Olivarez collides with Rueben Rodriguez, fifth seed Marcen Gonzales takes on Mar Raphael Teng and sixth seed Ralco Miguel dela Paz squares off with Elijah Arevalo in other featured matches in the boys’ 14-under division.

Other matches pit seventh seed Mimo Tomacruz against Chris Justine Prulla and No. 8 Tim Becker against John Andrei Rodriguez.

Also seeing action are Jerome Romualdez against Korean Jeon Jeheon, Norman Gaspar against John Zander Bulilan, Nicolo Hernandez against Julian Dayrit, Joel Atienza against Jericho Legaspi and Mahmod Dimacuta against Cenon Gonzales Jr.

In the girls’ 14-under class, fourth seed Samantha Um tackles Chloe Mae Saraza, Hanna Capinpin battles Alyssa Marie Reyes, Chrisilyn Coeleen Sioson faces Frances Santiago, Andrea Nicole Amistad meets Jade Charito Capadocia and Rafaella Villanueva takes on Grace Stevens.

Playing in the boys’ 12-under division of the tournament held in honor of former Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) president Salvador Andrada are Noah Tañada and Pete Coteron at 1 p.m. while Chester Tiongson meets Diego Dayrit and Dario Sujica takes on Mahmood Dimacuta at 2 p.m.
