Chan third in karting in rookie year

-

MANILA, Philippines –  FERN-C Racing hit another milestone in the international scene behind Matthew Chan who bagged a third place finish recently in the championship round of the 2010 Asian Karting Open Championship at the Kartodromo de Coloane Circuit in Macau.

It was actually his first time to compete in the ROK Junior division but Chan, a freshman of St. Jude Catholic School, unveiled impressive skills to deliver one of the two trophies for the Philippines with the big support of Sanyoseiki Stainless Steel Corporation, Placewell International Services Corporation, Getaway Tours Int’l. Inc., and Golf Sky.

The top Filipino finisher in the event was Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier who captured the runner-up honors behind ROK Junior winner Japanese Katsuhide Kaneishi.

”I’m very happy, it feels great to carry the Philippine flag in this prestigious event participated in by champions from Asia and Europe,” said Matthew, son of Greg and Jenny Ang Chan.

”FERN-C is proud of Matthew’s achievement that proved Filipinos are among the best karters in the world,” said FERN-C CEO and president Tom Tan.

“He has matured as far as skills are concerned, and he seemed more at ease using the ROK engine for the first time. With just a little more polishing, I believe Matthew will make it as a top ROK Junior title contender in the coming local karting season,” said Dy-Liacco.

Chan was consistent throughout, running with a laptime of 53.084 seconds as he wrapped up the final race in 15 minutes, 10.352 seconds.
