DLS Zobel nips Assumption; Greenies up in ICTSI jungolf

-

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle Zobel held off Assumption to prevail by a mere point even as La Salle Greenhills posted two victories in the second leg of the ICTSI Inter-school golf tournament at Club Intramuros recently.

The Zobel girls finished with 173 points for 72 holes while the Assumption squad wound up with 172 in an exciting finish at the short but hazard-laden layout.

LSGH coasted to a 19-point victory over La Salle Zobel in the juniors division and was even more impressive in a 78-point win over Xavier in Midgets 2.

Ateneo completed a 1-2 finish in Midgets 1 while St. Paul’s College won Girls 1 in the inter-school series of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines backed by ICTSI.

Philippine Airlines, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy and Sizzilin Pepper are major sponsors. The other sponsors are Dynamic Sports and Leisure Corp., McDonald’s, Smart, Golf Depot and Pioneer Insurance.

Individual titles were AR Ramos of LSGH (juniors), Ryan Monsalve of LSGH (Midgets 1), Kristoffer Arevalo of Sacred Heart (Midgets 2), Marvi Monsalve of St. Paul’s Pasig (Girls 1) and Princess Superal of St. Francis of Assisi (Girls 2).

The local juniors will have two major events during the holiday break. These are the ICTSI-JGFP Christmas pro-am scramble on Dec. 20 at Orchard and the Alabang-JGFP Junior Open on Dec. 21.
