CKHS whips UNO

-

MANILA, Philippines –  Chiang Kai Shek College notched its second straight win as it downed Uno High School, 61-49, to gain the early lead in the juniors division of the Freego-Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association tournament Saturday at the Uno High School gym recently.

The Blue Dragons leaned again on the all-round performance of veteran Paul Aduana to scuttle Uno’s repeated comebacks and post a follow-up to their 87-50 rout of St. Stephen’s High School in last Monday’s opener.

The 5-foot-8 Aduana finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and three steals to earn the Freego Player of the Game honors.

Meantime, St. Stephen’s bounced back by outlasting Grace Christian College, 68-48, behind Kent Lao and Bryan Ng.

The tournament is backed by Welcoat, Orocan, Burlington, Molten, Healthy Options and Bow & Wow and supported by Burlington, Puma, Fern-C, Bantex, Orocan, MEC Computer, Converse, Davis Paints, PG Flex, Molten, Gold’s Gym and Absolute.

The 6-foot-3 Lao knocked in six of his 26 points in a telling 11-0 run in the third quarter that padded their lead to 43-31. Lao also had 16 boards, two assists and two shot blocks to cop the Best Player of the game honors.

Bryan Ng also shone for St. Stephen with 22 markers, including 4-of-10 from the three-point area.
