Aguinaldo dominates field, tops WGAP Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Aguinaldo dished out superb form in all three legs and dominated the Best-Ball, Aggregate and Greensome formats to run away with the WGAP (Women’s Golf Association of the Phils.) Cup crown at The Country Club recently.

The Aguinaldo ladies seized control after the first two legs at Mt. Malarayat (3-1) and Canlubang (3.5-0.5), respectively, then swept the final leg at TCC in impressive fashion, 4-0, to finish with 10.5 points in the three-leg event among the top five teams in the recent WGAP circuit ruled by Tagaytay Highlands.

The Highlanders, which matched Aguinaldo’s 3-1 start at Malarayat but lost in Canlubang, 1.5-2.5, placed second with 6.5 points while Alabang came in third with six points.

Sta. Elena, which beat Aguinaldo to win last year’s WGAP Cup, groped for form and wound up fourth with four points while Forest Hills pooled three points and finished fifth in the season-ending tournament organized by WGAP.

Coached by Belen Ampong, the Aguinaldo ladies were composed of Menci Millionado, Edlyn Robas, Leni Cabili, April Ayson, Marie Guerrero, Nitz Salivio,Venus Hufalar, Ermi Madulid,Bianca Pagdanganan, Josie Untal, Dana Gonzalez, Matet Salivio, Mabel Salivio and Laly Trinidad.
