LSGH, Ateneo hold sway in ICTSI inter-school jungolf

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle Greenhills stepped up its bid for back-to-back romps in the juniors and midgets divisions with runaway leads in the recent second leg of the ICTSI Inter-School junior golf tournament at the Royal Northwoods Golf and Country Club in San Rafael, Bulacan.

JP de Claro and AR Ramos fired 44 points each while Luigi Guerrero added 38 for 126 points and a 407 total as the Greenies zoomed ahead by 23 points over La Salle Zobel in the juniors category.

Miguel Shah and Jay Reyes tried to keep the margin close for LS-Zobel with their 46 and 40, respectively, but their third player John Molina could only deliver 34 and the Zobel kids ended up with 120 and a 384 total.

LSGH has put a virtual lock on the Midgets 1 crown after a 115-337 pushed them far ahead of Brent (197) in the Inter-School series of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines backed by ICTSI.

Philippine Airlines, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy and Sizzlin Pepper are major sponsors of the Inter-School, the second leg of which gets going today. The other sponsors are Dynamic Sports and Leisure Corp., McDonald’s, Smart, Golf Depot and Pioneer Insurance.

Ateneo 1 and Ateneo 2 were leading in Midgets 2 at 224 and 175, respectively, with La Salle Canlubang third at 164.

Ramos still leads the overall individual race with a seven-point lead over Jay Reyes of LS-Zobel, 147-140, going into the final round today at Club Intramuros.

Christopher Popp of Brent is up by seven over Ivan Monsalve of LSGH, 120-113, in Midgets 1 and Kristoffer Arevalo (135) pacing Aidric Chan (122) in Midgets 2.
