MANILA, Philippines - Ericson Obosa came in second to anchor the 7-Eleven-Roadbike Phils. Riders’ strong showing in the opening leg of the Tour of Poyang Lake in Xiangzhi, China last Wednesday.
The 29-year-old pride of Manaoag, Pangasinan finished in a big 79-man wave that clocked identical times of one hour, 57 minutes and 30 seconds in the 87.6km circuit around China’s biggest fresh water lake.
Local bet Lu Zangian topped the event.
Australian Carlo Barandelli placed third in the leg where the leading riders kept a blistering average pace of 44.73 kilometers per hour.
Obosa’s teammates – Mark Galedo (21st), Sherwin Carrera (23rd), Tots Oledan (25th) and Irish Valenzuela (32nd) – were also part of the lead pack that paved the way for the team’s third overall finish in a cumulative time of five hours, 52 minutes and 30 seconds, just behind Red Fox-A Rider and CCN, which were 1-2, respectively.
A total of 20 teams from China, Hong Kong, Australia and the Netherlands are seeing action in the event.
