Guignet rules Asian kartfest
MANILA, Philippines – Frenchman Jean Philipe Guignet dominated his Asian rivals to rule the Thailand leg of the Asian Karting Open Championship at the Bangkok Racing Circuit in Srinakarin, Bangkok recently.
Guignet outclassed the field and dazzled the crowd with his aggressive driving, finishing second to Indonesian ace and Sean GP Racing teammate Sean Gelael in the pre-final before topping the final heat as Gelael failed to finish the race.
Veteran Indonesian campaigner Senna Sulaiman Noor wound up fourth in the pre-final then finished runner-up in the final to cap the Indonesians domination of the event presented by Red White Racing of Indonesia.
Thailand bet Kittitat Vongprai took third place while Malaysian Natasha Seatter and Indonesian Aldi Rizky Agustian finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Singapore, meanwhile, made a 1-2 finish behind Thaddeus Lee and Andersen Martono in the Formula Open 125 Junior division, beating Thais Supanot Suwankham, Napat Sangcharoen and Chatmonkon Wisutthisen.
But Thailand took three other titles behind Patiphat Jeerapeat in the ROK Senior, Wachirapong Klankesorn in the ROK Junior, and Jukka Koivistoinen in the Formula 125 Veteran against Freddy Numan Lawan and third placer John Stoeckel.
Other winners were Maximilian Fewtrell (mini-ROK) and Andy Chang (Rotax Max juniors).
