Sharks, Bulls try to stay unbeaten
MANILA, Philippines - A busy schedule marks Baseball Philippines Series VII Week 3 with Batangas playing two games, including the resumption of its match with Cebu and a clash with Quezon City at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium today.
Defending champion Manila, meanwhile, goes for its third victory as it battles Taguig starting at 1 p.m. at the Felino Marcelino Baseball Stadium in Taguig City.
The Bulls, toting a 1-0 card, take on the Quezon City Angels in the first game at 9 a.m. at the Rizal diamond and will then face the Dolphins at resumption of their Nov. 13 match that was called off due to darkness with the score tied at 4-4 in the 14th inning.
The Dolphins also play their second game as they go up against the Alabang Tigers right after their match against the Bulls in the league presented by Dunkin’ Donuts and organized by Community Sports Inc.
Despite its victories over Cebu and Alabang, Manila remains wary of Taguig, which has a 1-2 (win-loss) slate.
The Angels, on the other hand, try to sustain the momentum of their big 8-5 win over the Dolphins in 10 innings last week as they set out against the fancied Bulls.
“We are a rag-tag team but we will try to be a competitive team in this series,” said QC assistant coach Sig Villanueva.
The Dolphins, meanwhile, seek to improve their 1-2 start although slugger Jonash Ponce remains a doubtful starter with a right leg he sustained against Quezon City last week.
The league is sponsored by Gatorade, Rawling’s, Industrial Enterprises Inc., Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Harbour Centre and The Heritage Park with the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Amateur Baseball Association, Philippine Umpires Association and Sports Radio 918 AM as partners.
