Star out to buck odds vs Hobe

MANILA, Philippines - Star Group of Publications battles Hobe Bihon today, needing to win twice to gatecrash into the finals of the 2010 MBL invitational basketball tournament at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong City.

The Starmen got a free ride to the semis after quarterfinal opponent Lyceum begged off to concentrate on their campaign in the Philippine Collegiate Champion’s League (PCCL).

Star took the No. 4 spot and is paired with Hobe, which topped the elims a 7-1 win-loss record for the twice-to-beat advantage.

Star dealt Hobe its lone loss in the tournament.

The other semis pairing pits No. 2 Wang’s Ballclub against Royale Business Club, which trounced Manuel Luis Quezon U, 112-92, for the No. 3 spot.
