Mikee flawless, rules National show jump
MANILA, Philippines - Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski dished off a flawless performance aboard Rustic Rouge to rule the 2010 National Indoor Show Jumping Open Championship at Manila Polo Club’s indoor arena recently.
Cojuangco-Jaworski, the country’s flag-bearer in the ongoing Asian Games, and her mount cleared 11 obstacles in the first round then hurdle six in the second to complete to beat Rebecca Dosch, Diego Lorenzo and Mateo Lorenzo for top honors.
It was the former Asian Games gold medalist’s second victory this year after winning the Philippine leg of the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) World Jumping Challenge Category A last March.
Dosch took runner-up honors with five penalties while Diego Lorenzo and Mateo Lorenzo finished with six and 10 penalties, respectively.
Aboard Reestgraf, Diego Virata matched Cojuanco’s flawless performance as he topped the age-group category of the event held in conjunction with the RP-British friendship week and organized by the British Alumni Association. Other backers of the event were the British Council, Shakey’s Pizza and NutriAsia.
Meanwhile, Bea Galvez, on Othello, topped the preliminary children class to lead the winners in the National Indoor Dressage Championships. Other winners were Ingrid Hernandez on Sting (preliminary), Karen Concepcion on Dernier Rivage (elementary and medium) and Dosch on Lockhart (advanced).
