MANILA, Philippines - A huge P3 million purse will be up for grabs when Metro Card Club, the biggest poker room in Asia, celebrates its third year anniversary with a record-setting tournament from Oct. 21-27 at the Metrowalk Complex in Ortigas, Pasig City.
Dubbed as the “Metro Card Club Three!” or simply “Three!,” the event is expected to attract players from all over the country and shatter the old mark for the most number of participants in a poker tournament, especially with a very affordable buy-in of only P3,000.
The weeklong competition is projected to eclipse the existing record of 804 players, which the Metro itself had during its P2 million anniversary tourney last year, so much so that the organizers decided to have four starting days and the seven-day duration will also make it the longest local poker tournament in the Philippines.
“The outcome of a vision shared by a handful of people with a true passion for the game of Poker,” the Metro Card Club has grown by leaps and bounds since the moment it first opened in 2007 with only 11 tables. After a year it moved into another area within the same complex but with a bigger floor area to accommodate 30 action-filled tables for its thousands of patrons.
Included in the prize pool are three packages for the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), which will hold its fourth leg at the Shangrila Mactan Resort from November 12 to 16 in Cebu .
This glamorous international affair has a buy-in Php100,000 and will be attended by poker players from all over the world.
“The Metro Card Club is throwing in the (APPT) packages into its anniversary tournament to give Filipinos a chance to get into this big event, and this is part of our commitment to help develop poker here and make our country one of the forces to be reckoned with in this mind sport,”said Metro Card Club president Nick Galan.
Dozens of players have already gotten seats to the THREE! through the tournaments the Metro is conducting daily withbuy-in as low as P500, making it truly affordable for everyone to have a shot at life-changing fame and fortune.
