Chiefs seek third win vs Lions

-

MANILA, Philippines - Arellano shoots for its third straight win against a struggling San Beda side for the solo lead in the seniors division of the first LBC men’s volleyball league which resumes at the Ateneo gym.

The Chiefs swept their first two matches against St. Benilde and University of the East and are raring to add another one, this time against the Lions, who went loss-win-loss in their first three games.

Perpetual Help, meanwhile, tries to shake off a month-long break as it collides with Ateneo at 1 p.m. in the other seniors match of the tournament sponsored by LBC Hari ng Padala and backed by Shakey’s Pizza, Toby’s Sports, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mikasa and Accel.

The Altas have not seen action since beating Angeles U Foundation in the league’s inaugurals last Sept. 11 and must dish out a solid game against the Eagles on the latter’s turf.

The hosts carry a 2-1 slate and are going all out to go back-to-back after hurdling AUF last Sept. 26.

Mayamot National High School, meanwhile, seeks its third win in row in junior division as it squares off with University of Santo Tomas in the 9 a.m. opener.

The Junior Tigers tote a 1-0 card.

The Mayamot spikers share the lead with AUF in Juniors B and Sta. Elena High School and National U in Juniors A of the league serving as the revival of the men’s volley circuit.

FEU (Seniors A) and Arellano (Seniors B) pace the varsity division which drew 11 schools, including St. Benilde, NU, UP, and St. Dominic Savio.
