MANILA, Philippines - The PBA Legends USA Foundation played Santa Claus recently by giving 20 nursing students of Martinez Memorial Colleges in Caloocan City scholarship grants.
PBA Legends USA Foundation chairman and president Abe King came to announce and award the scholarships to the deserving students of MMC.
The granting of scholarships which was facilitated by Bradford Martinez, was PBA Legends USA Foundation’s own way to reciprocate the help of MMC Batch 77, headed by MMC vice-president, Dr. Elizabeth del Rio. MMC Batch 77 supported PBA Legends USA Foundation’s various projects, including exhibition games among former PBA stars the past three years.
“It’s an honor for our school to be the recipient of PBA Legends USA Foundation’s generosity.
“Our students are very pleased for the support, it’s really a great help to their family,” said Martinez, who is MMC’s director for admission and registration.
“We just hope that other foundations will also extend help not only to MMC but also to other schools,” said Martinez. King also threw a challenge to MMC students – some of them taking up Hotel and Restaurant Management, Rad Tech and Midwifery – to follow the example done by the Batch of 77 in supporting their alma mater.
“Kapag kumita na kayo at nasuportahan niyo na ang pamilya niyo, saka kayo gumawa ng paraang matulungan ninyo ang pinanggalingan ninyo,” said King, who added that most MMC alumni in the US are all successful
