MANILA, Philippines - The 33rd edition of the first Saturday non-master chess tournament (1950 below club rapid rating) will be held Oct. 2 at fourth floor, Perez Building, Dona Soledad Cor. Australia St., Better Living, Parañaque City.
At stake is the top P3,000 purse with the second and third placers receiving P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
Also up for grabs are the senior, kiddie and lady titles.
The tournament will be played under the seven-round Swiss system format with both players given 25 minutes each to finish the game.
Organized by Barangay Don Bosco Chess Club (BDBCC) headed by adviser Dr. Bong Perez, the tournament is sponsored by Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Vice Mayor Gus Tambunting, Rep. Roilo Golez, Barangay Don Bosco chairman Jun Virata, Better Living Jolibee, Boy Francisco, Red Ribbon, Mang Inasal, Duty Free, Shakey’s Pizza, Councilor Benjo Bernabe, KFC, Coca-Cola, Goldilocks, Hypermart and Hector Tagaysay (Filway). Fee is pegged at P250 for seniors and ladies and P150 for kiddies.
