FEU, UE spikers eye win No. 2 in LBC tilt

-

MANILA, Philippines – Action in the LBC Men’s Volleyball League resumes today with Far Eastern U and University of the East seeking their second straight victories against separate rivals at the Ateneo gym in Quezon City.

The Tams battled back from an opening set setback to turn back the Ateneo Eagles, 12-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-20, last week in an inspiring start to their campaign in the inaugural staging of the event sponsored by LBC Hari ng Padala.

They go for win No. 2 against Angeles University Foundation in the 3:30 p.m. match after San Beda squares off with St. Dominic Savio in the 2 p.m. opener of a triple-bill marking the fifth elims playdate of the league organized by Metro Sports and backed by Shakey’s Pizza, Toby’s Sports, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mikasa and Asics.

The Warriors, meanwhile, mix it up with the Arellano Chiefs at 5 p.m., likewise hoping to nail their second straight win in the tournament which drew 24 teams, including 11 in the varsity division.

The Red Lions, on the other hand, try to rebound from their opening day loss to the Warriors and get on the winning track against the unfancied St. Dominic Savio tossers, who dropped a three-setter to the National U Bulldogs last Sunday.

Other teams seeing action in the centerpiece division are Ateneo, St. Benilde, University of the Phils. and University of Perpetual Help.

Mayamot High School, meanwhile, paces the juniors side with two victories with Xavier School with one win and Claret with 1-1 slate.
