UE Kid Warriors lead MSSA

-

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East Kid Warriors overpowered St. Francis School, Southville and Colegio San Agustin to lead the MSSA basketball tournament recently at the British School gym.

The Kid Warriors of coach Mark Herrera, also the UE Junior Warriors coach, led CSA by as many as 24 points before the Makati-based school reduced the gap to four following injuries to key players Joshua Santos, Paul Malones and Richie Rivero.

Earl Lagaras, Joshua Lanuza, Karl Bautista, Adrian Yambao and Neil Mendoza delivered on the offensive end as the UE Kid Warriors pulled away to earn their third straight triumph following easy victories over St. Francis and Southville.

“This is a good win for our team” said Herrera, coach of the four-time Junior PBA champion Batang Talk N Text-Quezon City. “These boys have been playing hard and they deserve to come up with a win,” added Herrera, who is also the RP Youth 13 under coach.

The team was formed by Herrera as part of a university-wide basketball program supported by the UE administration under president Ester Garcia and executive vice president Carmelita Mateo.

Supporting Herrera are assistant coaches Benjie Diswe, Jesus Albano and Edwin Ancheta.
