UM blasts SSC-Cavite, keeps lead in NAASCU

MANILA, Philippines - University of Manila thumped San Sebastian-Cavite, 81-60, yesterday to remain in the lead in the 10th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) basketball tournament at the UM gym.

Eugene Torres exploded with 23 points while Alvin Viernes and Rhandelle Colina had 18 and 15 points, respectively, as the Hawks posted their 13th win against a loss.

June Nistal fired 13 points while Raymond Alcasabas tossed in 11 points for the Baycats, who fell to 7-7.

Informatics stunned fancied STI, 65-64, to stay inside the Magic Four with a 9-5 (win-loss) record.

Jan Baltazar, a 6-3 rookie out of Rizal Province, unloaded 15 points while Mario Leonida shot 11 points for the Icons.

Hessed Gabo and Rama Morales scored 14 points apiece for the Olympians, who took their third setback against 11 wins.
