MANILA, Philippines - RJ Chandumal scored 28 points as the Bombay Bombers came from behind to beat the defending champion Blue Sharks, 80-60, in the 2010 FIBL Fil-India Cup at the Makati Coliseum last Sunday.
Chandumal scattered 12 of his output in a telling run that turned a nine-point deficit to an eight-point lead en route to the victory, the Bombers’ second straight.
The Sharks, behind Kishore Mirpuri’s putback, took a 55-46 lead with 10:48 left in the fourth but Chandumal sparked a big Bombers 21-4 counterattack, giving the latter a 67-59 lead with 3:17 remaining in the game.
Vladimir Singh led the Sharks with 23 points while Manoj Chandumal had 17 after hitting 30 points in their first game.
Kishore Mirpuri had 11 points and 12 rebounds against his former team.
In the second game, Jasjit Dhaliwal fired 22 points as the Kings pulled off a 78-68 victory over the Knights.
Avin Chulani complemented his rookie teammate’s brilliant performance with 21 points and 11 rebounds while Prashant Dargani added 12 points.
