Juvic rallies with 64, finishes 3rd

-

MANILA, Philippines - Juvic Pagunsan matched his second round seven-under 64 and rallied from 11th to finish third in the Brunei Open topped by Siddikur of Bangladesh at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei yesterday.

Pagunsan, who dropped out of contention with a so-so 71 in the third round, fought back with a 32 at the front and had four more birdies at the back but ran out of holes in his stirring comeback bid.

His bogey-free 64, however, lifted him to third place at 269 in a big confidence boost heading to this week’s Selangor Masters in Kuala Lumpur. He won $18,300 (P823,500).

Siddikur, who closed out with a 67 and a 268, nipped Jbe Kruger, who had a 66, of South Africa on the first playoff hole to become the first Bangladeshi to win on the Asian Tour.
