Mazon rules 10-Ball

-

MANILA, Philippines - Jundel Mazon completed his remarkable run in the 2010 Guinness World Series of Pool 10-Ball Challenge, beating Irsal Nasution of Indonesia, 10-5, in the finals to bag the crown before a dejected hometown crowd in Jakarta last night.

Like in his come-from-behind 8-6 win over Englishman Darren Appleton in the semis, Mazon fought back from a 1-5 deficit by winning nine straight racks in amazing fashion to become the country’s newest pool millionaire.

“ I would like to thank coach Toper (Christopher Palses), who personally watched my game here,” said Mazon, who pocketed $40,000 or P1.8 million, his biggest purse in a fledgling pool career.

Nasution, who eliminated former 9-ball and 8-ball champion Ronnie Alcano in the quarters, brought downed 2007 Guinness 9-ball champion Chang Jung-lin of Taiwan, 8-2, in the other Final Four.
