Aguilar rules slippery Vitz Cup race

-

MANILA, Philippines -  Multi-titled motocross champion Glenn Aguilar proved himself equally talented in circuit racing as he ruled the 2010 Vitz Cup Invitational Race recently at the Clark International Speedway.

Aguilar made it look easy despite the slippery track caused by heavy rain as he turned back veteran car racers.

The 2010 Vitz Cup has been designed as a transition event or a stepping stone for karters and racers from other motorsports disciplines to move up into touring car races.

Using a uniform light car with a circuit set-up, the series ensures that the main focus will be the talent of the driver, and not the power of the engine, thus giving every competitor equal chances for the crown at a very affordable cost.

“We expect this to be another big hit as there are a lot of car racing enthusiasts who will be joining the event as their training ground to get into a more competitive circuit racing,” said organizer and RP motorsports godfather Johnny Tan.

So determined, Aguilar slugged it out against former Asian Formula 3 champion Pepon Marave, putting up a strong defensive fight as he completed the five-lap race in six minutes and 3.619 seconds.

Former karting champ George Apacible checked in third with Charlie Cruz fourth and Richard Joson fifth.

The event is sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Yokohama Tires, Pagcor Sports, Aeromed, Chequered Flag, and Stoplight TV.
