Docyogen halts foe, keeps URCC crown

-

MANILA, Philippines - Roy Docyogen fended off Jordan Ogo’s early attack and went on to keep his pinweight crown in the Colt 45-URCC (Universal Reality Combat Championships) XVII at the jampacked A. Venue Events Hall in Makati over the weekend.

The Lakay Wushu star stifled Ogo before executing a rear naked choke that saw the pride of Saipan’s Team Hagat tap out – a sign of surrender – with 9:26 in the first round.

Aside from retaining his title, the 25-year-old Docyogen also extended his winning streak in the popular mixed martial event (MMA) to eight.

Another big winner in the event presented by Colt 45 and sponsored by Tribal Gear, Alaxan FR, Solar TV, Solar Sports, 99.5 RT, NU 107, Rogue Magazine, Pinoy Exchange, VRP Medical Center, Chris Sports, Yoshinoya, and SEAIR, was first-timer Froilan Sarena of Submission Sports Philippines, who beat Iranian Razi Jabbari.

Sarenas used his brute strength to win via an armbar in 5:50 in the first round of their welterweight showdown.

Other winners in the 10-bout affair were lightweight Honorio Banario, pinweight Norel Norada, bantamweight Jessie Rafols, bantam Reysaldo Transmonte, featherweight Carl Sabeniano, heavyweight Igor Subora of Ukraine, featherweight Eric Kelly and pinweight Regie Amarante.

Sabeniano posted the quickest win in the event dubbed as “Havoc,” knocking down Jerson Estoro with a vicious spinning left arm in just 18 seconds of their match.

But the fight that raves from the fans was between Rafols and Andrew Benibe.

Rafols produced a couple of hip throws before he finally took down Benife to the ground with an “Americana Kimura” tactic. The end came in 9:12 of the first round.
