Orchard hosts first leg of Fed amateur series

-

MANILA, Philippines -  In addition to two successful inter-club leagues for men and ladies and a seniors event, the Federation Golf Clubs Philippines, Inc. is launching a new competition the FedGolf National Amateur Series with the Orchard Golf and Country Club hosting the opening leg on July 28-29.

The new series is being staged to further promote the game of golf in the country and give non-members the chance to play exclusive clubs around the country in a competition.

There will be seven handicap and age brackets to be disputed. These are the gross Open Division I event and the net and gross plays in the Mid-Am Division I for 30-54 years old (handicap 9.9 and below), Mid-Am Division II for 30-54 years old (handicap 10 and above), Senior Care Group I for 55 years and above (handicap 9.9 and below) and Senior Care Group II for 55 years and above (handicap 10 and above).

Entry fee is P3,000 for non-members of a host club and P1,000 for members. For reservations and tournament details, visit www.fedgolf.org or call the FedGolf office (Pie Ledesma) at tel. No. 840-3951, fax No. 840-3952 or email [email protected].

FGCPI also holds the annual Federation Ladies League and the ongoing Men’s League featuring member clubs and the Senior Care.

“We hope to generate as much interest with this new project as our three other tournaments are doing,” said FGCPI president Ogie Manalo.

FGCPI chairman Richie Garcia was recently appointed as the new chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission by President Noynoy Aquino.
