Lady Falcons trounce Archers
MANILA, Philippines - Adamson touched off its title-retention bid in the UAAP Season 73 women’s basketball tournament with a rousing 84-53 demolition of La Salle yesterday at The Arena in San Juan.
Analyn Almasan displayed the form that made her MVP last season, exploding for 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds along with two assists and two steals to power the Lady Falcons to victory.
Anna Buendia, another member of the Season 72 champion squad, added 12 markers and six boards while Katherine Sandel had an excellent all-around effort of 11 points, nine assists and seven steals.
La Salle, which was Adamson’s victim in the Final Four last year, was led by Aracelie Abaca and Eileen Urieta’s eight markers.
Joining Adamson in the win column were last year’s runner-up FEU Lady Tams, who drew a combined 47 points from Allana Lim, Raiza Palmera and Karen Columna in clubbing University of Santo Tomas, 72-55, over at the Big Dome.
Also notching a “W” were Ateneo, which waylaid University of the East, 74-59; and National U, which outclassed University of the Philippines, 69-56.
