Careline-RP sees action in ASEAN School Games

Careline-Pilipinas hopes to come out strong from its stint in the FIBA-Asia Under-18 Women’s Championship recently as it competes in the second ASEAN School Games firing off tomorrow in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“We learned valuable lessons during our FIBA-Asia stint in Thailand, so I’m confident of putting up a decent finish this time,” said RP coach Patrick Aquino. “Unlike in the FIBA-Asia where we competed against taller and heftier rivals, the ASEAN School Games features a balanced competition, so we have a good chance.”

In the FIBA-Asia tournament, the Nationals failed to advance to the next level despite posting a 3-2 record in their group.

The participation of Careline-Pilipinas in the annual nine-day event is backed by the Department of Education Secretary Armin Luistro, Undersecretary Ramon Bacani and Feliciano Toledo, consultant for school sports.

Careline is a line of cosmetics of Ever Bilena chaired by RP women’s junior patron Dioceldo Sy.

Danica Jose, Tere Aseron and Kitkat Nitorreda will spearhead the Nationals along with Camille Claro, Ginny Pioquinto, Elrica Castro, Cheskie Tantoco, Trisha Dy, Alyanna Ong, Steph Cua, and Maan Wong.

Aquino will be assisted by former RP Youth team member Paul Du and Julie Amos with Silliman Sy and Johnson Martines as team managers.

Aside from basketball, other events on tap in the seven-nation event are athletics, badminton, swimming and sepak takraw.
