MANILA, Philippines - The Kenyans continued to dominate the local running scene, finishing1-2 in the Metro Manila elimination of the 34th Milo Marathon on a route that started and ended at the Quirino Grandstand yesterday.
Abraham Missos beat compatriot Willy Tanui in the last 400 meters to top the men’s division of the 42K in two hours, 39 minutes, 43 seconds.
Missos actually shrugged off a minor leg injury he sustained in a Thailand race two months ago and outsprinted Tanui in the last stretch to pocket the top P50,000 prize.
Tanui settled for second in 2:44.43
Luisa Raterta of Sta. Rosa, Laguna, meanwhile, reigned in the distaff side, clocking 3:28.41 to beat Joanne Manangat for top honors. Manangat timed 3:31.29 while Geraldine Sealza came in third with a 3:37.50 clocking.
