Buncio bags three titles in underbone king series

-

MANILA, Philippines - Maico Buncio of YRS-Elf Moto Oil-Yamaha ran away anew with three titles in the third leg of the 2010 Philippine Underbone King Championship series recently at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Buncio, 20, turned back tough rivals as he ruled the premier 150cc Open, the 130cc Open and the 115cc Open classes of the event sponsored by MTRT and Pagcor Sports and supported by Enercel Forte, Aeromed, Stoplight TV and Inside Racing Magazine.

He could have made it four if he hadn’t figured in an accident in the MTRT 180cc. Automatic Scooter class.

After a tight win over Jaime Barcial in the pre-final, Buncio came out stronger in the final race where he quickly pulled away from the pack and wrapped up the six-lap race in 12 minutes, 5.321 seconds to complete his sweep in the 150cc Open class.

Barcial was second, 2.274 seconds behind while Marvin Mangulabnan, Suzuki’s Johnlery Enriquez and reigning Underbone king Masato Fernando finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Buncio was more dominating in the 130cc class where he wrapped up the six-lap race in 12:38.949, a far 4.980 seconds ahead of runner-up Anthony Roman.

Jolet Jao checked in third and Victor Laude fourth.

In the 115cc Open, Buncio had difficulty warding off the tough 15-year-old Fil-Japanese Dashi Watanabe, who upstaged the former in the pre-final heat.

The two again diced against each other in the final race but Buncio got the big edge in the stretch as he completed the six-lap race in 12:1.006 or just 0.225 seconds ahead of Watanabe.

Suzuki’s Paul Mark Doblada took third place while Michael John Altamira and Anthony Roman wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Joining the winners circle are Jeffrey Chan and Ralph Kenneth Torres.

Chan likewise pulled a big sweep in the MTRT180 Automatic Scooter, winning the title by just 1.061 seconds over Edwin Chua.

Paul Pangilinan took third place.

while Ivan Santiago and Benjamin Dolores ended fourth and fifth respectively.

Torres, on the other hand, unveiled a big squeaker in the 115cc Super Stock class as he grabbed the checkered flag by just 0.160 of a second over Mangulabnan.

Gio Adriano made it third while Richard Soriano and Nicolo Ramos wound up fourth and fifth.
