Torcuator, Mandapat rule Davao dragfest
MANILA, Philippines - Dancen Torcuator dominated the Open category while Johnnel Mandapat lorded it over the R150 field as they led the winners in the Raider Breed Wars: The Quarter Mile drag race event at the Old Airport Road Km 10 in Sasa, Davao City recently.
Torcuator bested Jeff Teopengco and Bong Velasquez in the centerpiece event and took home P7,500 and trophy. Teopengco and Velasquez settled for P5,000 and P2,500, respectively.
Mandapat, on the other hand, ruled the R150 category, beating Herbert Valencia and Stephen Ramiro while Rolly Masisay outraced Lemuel Cabatic and Arnel Villanueva to capture the Raider J title.
The top motorcycle clubs from various parts of Mindanao took part in the event watched by over 5,000 riders, racers and motorcycle enthusiasts under scorching heat.
A total of 46 riders, headed by the Suzuki Raiders Club, V-Man Racing, Full Throttle, Suzuki Raider’s team from Dipolog, Gen. Santos City, Pagadian Cagayan de Oro, Bulawan vied for top honors in the Raider R150 Stock Bore/Stock Stroke, Raider J and Raider J Pro Stock Bore/Stock Stroke and Wild Card Open 4-stroke up to 200cc categories for any Suzuki motorcycle model.
Meanwhile, action resumes tomorrow when the north Luzon leg is held at the Clark Speedway in Clark, Pampanga.
Top two finishers in each category will join the winners in the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao legs in the grand finals slated on Dec. 5 in Manila.
