Open 5K event spices up Team Woman run

MANILA, Philippines - The Team Woman Run firing off Sunday will not only be a showcase of women power but will also feature young and adult male runners in the Open 5K side event at the Venice Piazza Mall at McKinley Hill.

Organizers of the event, presented by Woman by Lactacyd, have added the 5K race to further generate interest in the novel footrace among executives and managers in the corporate world, running buffs in the political and showbiz sectors and members of the various clubs in the distaff side.

Meanwhile, registration ends today with over a thousand entries already in the roster. Listup can be made at Timex North Edsa, Timex MOA, Timex Southmall and Runnr Bonifacio High Street, according to the organizing Eventking Corp.

Fees are pegged at P1,000 per team with two bottles of Woman by Lactacyd 200ml and proof of purchase (bottle and receipt) and P1,500 without proof or purchase.

In the 5K race, fee is P600 if no proof of purchase and P450 if with one bottle of Woman by Lactacyd 200ml and proof of purchase.

A whopping total purse of P200,000 is up for grabs in the four-woman team relay spread over 21K or half marathon distance and divided into four legs.

The event, sponsored by Timex, features teams with three or four members aged 18-45 years old. It is held to promote running as an inexpensive, convenient sport for a healthy lifestyle, especially for women achievers in various fields.

The first leg will be a 10k run with the next set at 5k and the last two at 3k. A participant is allowed to run twice only in the first and last legs of the event backed by 100 Plus, Alaska Slim, Beauty Bar, Bluewater Day Spa, David’s Salon, Dole, Summit and Timex and media partners Multisport, Runnerspeak and Women’s Health.
