Runnex run on at UP campus
MANILA, Philippines - The second edition of the Discover Running Clinic Series organized by the Executive Runners Club of the Philippines (Runnex) begins today at the University of the Philippines campus.
To be launched during the clinic is the three-month Discover Distance Module that will train participants to run the 21K and experience hill training, speed intervals, fartleks and the Long Slow Distance runs.
According to Dave de Leon, Runnex president, “the Discover Distance Module is a progression path that recent graduates of the Discover Running module may progress to, should they wish to run longer, farther and faster.”
The first edition started last Feb. 28 and culminated with a 10K run by the participants during the 2010 Runnex Executive Classic last May 23.
The clinic, open free of charge to everyone including beginners, culminates with the second Quezon City International Marathon slated Dec. 5.
The training program is designed in close coordination with the UP College of Human Kinetics under Dean Lailani Gonzalo with lead trainer, multi-awarded triathlete and seasoned track coach Jojo Makalintal.
Resource speakers will lecture on strength training, diet and nutrition, hydration, injury prevention, and motivation.
The clinics are held every Sunday at 5:45 a.m. with assembly in front of the UP Plaridel Hall.
