MANILA, Philippines - Indonesia’s Putty Armein and Malaysian Sin Li Jane each shot a three-game series of identical 699s to emerge the new co-leaders in the ladies’ Class O singles of the 39th Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships at the Paeng’s Midtown Bowl at Robinson’s Place in Ermita last Thursday.
Displaying top forms, Armein rolled games of 208, 236 and 255, while Jane made 254, 234 and 211 for a 233-average as they dislodged Filipina veteran Liza Clutario (661) from the top to third place.
Those scores also vaulted the two visitors into the 1-2 rankings of the ladies’ Class O foreign division masters qualifiers in the tournament sponsored by UPHS Dalta and Jonelta Systems, Pagcor Sports, DOT, PSC , PCSO, Amway, Timberpro and Colgate Palmolive.
Jane had a six-game output of 1,332 to show the way for the foreigners while Armein (1,296) was running second, with Hongkong’s Tam Shun Yee (1,296) and Ho Sze Yui (1,159) in third and fourth, respectively.
Clutario, however, retained the lead in the local distaff side of the masters eliminations with a score of 1,258, and which had national pool teammate Lingling de Guzman springing up from nowhere to take the No. 2 spot with a 1,251 (629-622) tally.
TBAM-Prima RP’s Krizziah Tabora, the 2008 RP Open ladies’ masters champion, dipped to third (1,244), Rachelle Leon to fourth (1,219), Liza del Rosario to fifth (1,205) and Lara Posadas to sixth (1,195).
