Eastridge, F Hills off to big starts

-

MANILA, Philippines - Former champion Forest Hills and Eastridge got off to rousing starts after sweeping their first round rivals in the 2010 Men’s Federation Golf League matches in various venues.

Forest Hills swamped comebacking Mimosa in both of their matches, winning 4-1 on the road then posting a merciless 5-0 sweep at home for an extra point to zoom ahead in Group 1 with 5 points.

Eastridge was just as overpowering against Canlubang, winning by a 5-0 rout at home and completed a series sweep with a 3-2 victory in their trip to Laguna to stay on top of Group 2 also at 5 points.

Wack Wack split its matchup with Sherwood Hills but got an extra point in its 4.5-.5 win at home to emerge the early leader in Group 3 with 3 points. Sherwood first nailed a 3.5-1.5 decision in its hosting turn but yielded to a vengeful Wack Wack crew the following week.

The Fed League’s opening matches also saw last years finalists Sta. Elena and Tagaytay Highlands splitting their duels with different opponents.

Defending champion Sta. Elena bounced back from a stinging 4-1 loss in the away game with a 3-2 result at home against Riviera in Group 1 while Highlands started with a 3.5-1.5 home win over Manila Southwoods only to fall by the same margin in their return match in Group 2.

Valley took the opener of its battle with Royal Northwoods 4-1 but the latter asked for a postponement of its hosting turn.

This week’s matches features the following matchups:Alabang-Riviera, Mimosa-Sta. Elena in Group 1, Orchard-Southwoods and Canlubang-Tagaytay in Division 2 and Valley-Sherwood and Wack Wack-Northwoods in Division 3.
