OCAI course offers big test

MANILA, Philippines - Runners face a different kind of challenge when they compete in the first OCAI (Ortigas Center Association, Inc.) Run at the Ortigas Center on June 27.

“Due to the elevation in and around the Ortigas Center area, there will be uphill stretches guaranteed to test the runners’ mettle,” said race director Rudy Biscocho. “But naturally, for every climb there is a reward, and one can improve his time by increasing the pace downhill.”

The 10K route will feature a downhill stretch on Lanuza Drive in Valle Verde and an uphill trek on Julia Vargas Avenue. Also on tap are the 3K and 5K races.

“This first ever road run in Ortigas Center aims to raise funds for the various humanitarian projects of Rotary Club of Ortigas Center,” said OCAI chair Luz Cotoco.

Registration is ongoing with fees pegged at P400 for any of the three races, inclusive of one race bib, baller band, route map, finisher’s shirt and loot bag that will be given out right after the run.
